Outfielder Steward Berroa will be traded by the Philadelphia Phillies to the Milwaukee Brewers in an early-season transaction. Prior to their match against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday, the Phillies made the announcement.

In exchange for financial considerations, the Milwaukee Brewers traded outfielder Steward Berroa to the Philadelphia Phillies, who then sent him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Yoniel Curet, a right-handed pitcher, was placed on assignment to make room for Berroa on the 40-man roster.

Berroa has not played much, but during his brief career with the Toronto Blue Jays and the Brew Crew, he has had some positive experiences. With seven stolen bases, eight walks, one double, and one RBI among his 26 years, he has a lifetime WAR of 0. 5. Since he has 16 strikeouts in 42 at-bats during his career, strikeouts have been his problem. Berroa has excelled in the field, playing all three outfield positions. With two assists and a lifetime DWAR of 0. 4, he has a perfect 1,000 fielding percentage for his career.

The Phillies released Yoniel Curet. Curet has been consistent in the minors but hasn’t made his major league debut yet.

Following JT Realmuto’s exit from Tuesday’s game, manager Rob Thomson gave an update on his foot ailment earlier this Wednesday.

“J. T. Realmuto is still quite sore,” Rob Thomson stated. Dylan Moore is most likely the backup catcher today. I now have the opportunity to gently introduce an Emergency Third Catcher that is intended for all major league cities. Gelb wrote on X, “Wouldn’t that be cool? “
