Report: Detroit Lions sign Veteran OL Trystan Colon During Second Week of OTAs Amid reports of center Frank Ragnow’s Retirement

Colon entered the NFL in 2020 as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri, signing initially with the Baltimore Ravens. Across his first three seasons, he appeared in 20 games for the Ravens, making starts at both center (three games) and right guard (one game). After a brief stint with the New York Jets in 2023, he was picked up by the Arizona Cardinals following final roster cuts. During his two years in Arizona, Colon suited up for 31 games, starting 11—four at left guard and seven at right guard. Last season, he logged 386 snaps, surrendering 12 pressures but managing to avoid allowing a single sack.

Though Colon has played across all five offensive line positions, the Lions are expected to focus his competition along the interior, where he’s most experienced and where Detroit has depth concerns.

The center position is shaping up to be a battle between veteran Graham Glasgow and rookie Tate Ratledge. Colon will likely be part of the depth rotation alongside backup Michael Niese and second-year undrafted player Kingsley Eguakun.

At guard, Glasgow, Ratledge, and rookie Christian Mahogany appear to be the top candidates to start, though the position remains competitive. The Lions also have several other interior linemen in the mix, including rookie Miles Frazier, veterans Kayode Awosika and Netane Muti, and undrafted rookie Mason Miller.
