Week one of the 2024 NFL season features some exciting matchups, and with the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory over the Baltimore Ravens already in the books, fans can look forward to some other huge games this weekend.

The schedule will conclude on “Monday Night Football” with the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers hosting Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets.

Both clubs are loaded with talent, and running back Christian McCaffrey, probably the 49ers’ finest player, has stated unequivocally that he will participate despite suffering a leg injury this preseason. When asked if he intends to manage a typical workload, McCaffrey replied, “I hope so,” according to Nick Wagoner of ESPN. McCaffrey has been dealing with a sore calf for the past few weeks, and Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan just stated that the star also has a linked Achilles injury.

Last season, the All-Pro won Offensive Player of the Year after leading the NFL in rushing yards, total yards, touchdowns, and offensive touches. What makes him truly unique is that he is not just an outstanding pure runner, but also a true dual-threat RB who can run routes and line up as a wide receiver. Assuming he plays and succeeds as usual, the Jets will have their hands full, despite their talented defensive front seven.

Rodgers’ much-anticipated New York debut last season was cut short when he tore his Achilles during the first offensive series while being attacked by Buffalo Bills defensive end Leonard Floyd. In an interesting coincidence, Floyd is now a part of the Niners defense, and while he will not aim to damage Rodgers, he will look to pressure the quarterback and make him struggle to find his receivers all evening.
