Notre Dame’s running backs coach, Deland McCullough, is set to leave the program to take on the same role with the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, as reported by multiple sources. McCullough joined the Fighting Irish in 2022 when Marcus Freeman assumed the head coaching position. In 2023, he earned a promotion to run-game coordinator.

McCullough’s Impact on Notre Dame’s Ground Game

Under McCullough’s guidance, Notre Dame’s rushing attack flourished. In 2023, Audric Estime rushed for 1,341 yards and scored 18 touchdowns before being drafted by the Denver Broncos. Following Estime’s departure, Jeremiyah Love stepped into the spotlight. One of the most dynamic runners in college football, Love accumulated 1,125 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns in 2024, positioning himself as a likely Heisman Trophy candidate for the upcoming season.
