South Carolina Beats Auburn for 2026 Four-Star QB Landon Duckworth
Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Gamecocks added a major piece to their future quarterback room, earning a verbal commitment from standout 2026 recruit Landon Duckworth. The talented signal-caller, a native of Jackson, Alabama, announced his decision on Friday, choosing South Carolina over fellow SEC contender Auburn, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Duckworth, considered a four-star recruit by 247Sports, boasts a 94 rating. He’s ranked as the No. 3 player in Alabama, the No. 6 quarterback in his class nationwide, and the 51st overall prospect in the country.
A dynamic dual-threat quarterback, Duckworth is known for his athleticism, quick release, and ability to thrive in modern spread offenses. Though his accuracy in the intermediate passing game can be inconsistent, his mobility and playmaking outside the pocket more than compensate. Andrew Ivins, Director of Scouting for 247Sports, praised Duckworth’s upside, calling him a potential game-changer at the college level.
“Entering his senior year with a 33-5 record as a starter, he’s consistently improved across the board,” Ivins noted. “His long-term success will depend on how well he develops as a decision-maker and rhythm passer in a structured system, but he has the tools to become a true impact player with both his arm and legs.”
Duckworth is expected to be a future replacement for LaNorris Sellers, further solidifying the Gamecocks’ quarterback depth moving forward.
