As the 2025 college football season fades into memory, fans nationwide are anticipating the last remnant of the sport they adore until the next season.
Teams from all over the nation will hold their yearly spring game over the course of the next few months. It’s little more than a high-end scrimmage that doesn’t factor into the record book as a win or a loss, but it does give supporters an opportunity to see fresh talent. The fanbase also has something to look forward to in the approaching season.
In contrast to the previous year, when teams around the nation postponed their spring games out of concern that athletes might be stolen in the spring transfer portal window, it appears that programs are once again hosting spring games. This is a consequence of the NCAA removing the spring transfer portal window and only allowing one two-week window in January.
The Texas A&M Aggies were the last team to make public the details of their spring game when they issued a statement on Saturday.
The annual Maroon & White Game for Texas A&M football will be held on April 18, according to a statement released by the team on Saturday. Under third-year head coach Mike Elko, fans will get a glimpse of the 2026 Aggies at the 1 p. m. CT intrasquad scrimmage at Kyle Field. More information on parking and fan events will be released in the future, and admission is free.
Elko made it plain that he wasn’t concerned about losing players to the portal, even if Texas and Nebraska, among other schools, canceled their spring games in response to the craze that arose last season.
“I’m not purchasing some of this notion of others recruiting from your roster or some of those things,” Mike Elko stated through On3. “Thus, we will keep playing spring games until we reach the semifinals, at which point we will start to figure out what our offseason looks like. “
The Aggies are coming off a remarkable 11-2 season in which they only lost one game in SEC competition, and this year’s spring game follows that. The Aggies not only have one of the top defenses in college football, but they also advanced to the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history.
The anticipation is that Texas A&M will once again be a force in the SEC and in the national title debate due to the team’s strong transfer portal class and the return of a large number of important players in 2026.
