Campbell, Texas Tech’s billionaire megadonor, resorted to social media on Monday to voice his opposition to plans to relocate the Texas Tech-Houston football game to a Friday night this season.
The game is now set for Saturday, September 19, in Lubbock.

It’s completely ridiculous that the Big 12 and Fox would consider scheduling Texas Tech and Houston on a Friday night! I know that (Commissioner) Brett Yormark is not a native Texan, but he has been here long enough to know better! Come on, man!
The Big 12 did not reply right away.
Last season, UH played three times on Friday, including a home game against Colorado, a road game against Central Florida in Big 12 play, and a non-conference game at Oregon State.
In recent years, the Texas High School Coaches Association has opposed Division I football conferences that schedule Friday night games throughout the high school regular season.
We request that all conference commissioners avoid scheduling Friday night games throughout the 11-week Texas high school football regular season. We believe Friday nights should be all about the communities that support Texas high school football, according to THECA executive director Joe Martin in 2024.
