In a historic showdown at the Women’s College World Series (WCWS), the Texas Longhorns clinched their first NCAA softball national championship title by defeating in-state rival Texas Tech in a thrilling Game 3 finale. With the series tied at one game apiece, the Longhorns showcased resilience, power, and precision to emerge victorious in the decisive matchup, securing their place in collegiate softball history.

The final game, held at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, saw a packed stadium filled with roaring fans, with the energy peaking as Texas sealed a commanding 6-3 win over the Red Raiders. This victory not only ended the Longhorns’ wait for a national title but also underscored their remarkable journey through the 2025 season and postseason.

Led by standout pitcher Hailey Dolcini, who delivered a complete-game performance, and a red-hot offense powered by All-American infielder Mia Scott, the Longhorns held firm against a determined Texas Tech squad. Key home runs and clutch defensive plays defined the high-stakes game, as the Longhorns capitalized on every opportunity.

Texas head coach Mike White, who took over the program just a few years ago, celebrated the win as the culmination of a vision built on discipline, recruitment, and belief. “This group has worked harder than any team I’ve coached,” White said postgame. “They believed, they fought, and they earned this moment.”

This historic win marks a turning point for Texas softball, setting the stage for continued dominance in the NCAA landscape. The 2025 WCWS victory not only brings pride to the Longhorn Nation but also establishes the Longhorns as a force to be reckoned with in future tournaments.

With their first WCWS title now secured, the Longhorns have etched their name among the elite programs in college softball.
