The Edmonton Oilers announced on Sunday that they have summoned forward Ike Howard from the American Hockey League (AHL). Their statement emphasized Howard’s strong performance, indicating that the rookie professional has tallied 22 goals and 25 assists in 45 games with Bakersfield this season.

This decision is likely a direct result of several injuries impacting the Oilers’ lineup. Key players Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman remain sidelined. Additionally, Jason Dickinson is considered day-to-day with a lower-body ailment, and Max Jones left Saturday’s game in the first period after blocking a shot, unable to continue playing.

Howard will receive a chance to display the advancement gained from his extended time in Bakersfield. However, it appears unlikely that his stay with the Oilers will last much longer than the anticipated recovery periods for the team’s injured personnel.
