To Barrett told On3 on Monday night that he intends to join the transfer portal this week after spending two seasons at Mizzou.
According to reports, the 6-foot-4 guard will be leaving Dennis Gates’ club for the 2026-27 season after playing in 33 games and making 14 starts this past season. Barrett, a former in-state star at Link Academy in Branson, averaged 8. 6 points, 3. 0 assists, and 2. 7 rebounds per game for the Tigers, assisting them in earning an NCAA Tournament spot.
Barrett was also a terrific defender for Mizzou, averaging 1. 2 steals per game this season, which will be his final in Columbia. He averaged 22. 8 minutes per game for the Tigers this season, who were knocked out in the first round of the tournament by Miami.
Barrett, a member of the class of 2024, pledged to Mizzou in the summer of 2023, making up his mind early in the process that he wanted to stay in Missouri. Barrett was rated as a three-star recruit during his recruitment cycle.
During his rookie season at Mizzou, Barrett played in 19 games and averaged only 1. 9 points per game, thus he improved in all aspects as a sophomore. Now, the college basketball community and the SEC are waiting to see which school Barrett will pick for his junior season.
Mizzou qualified for this year’s NCAA Tournament, but was defeated in the first round. However, two teams are now battling in Indianapolis for everything, with a chance at winning the national championship.
