The NFL didn’t let the Detroit Lions leave their Thanksgiving game against the Packers without some unwanted mail, courtesy of league discipline.
Two Lions players were hit with fines for unrelated incidents during the holiday matchup, adding up to close to $30,000 in penalties.
Linebacker Jack Campbell was docked $11,593 for a third-quarter facemask call after he pulled on the helmet of tight end Josh Whyle during a tackle. The officials flagged it immediately, and the league later added a monetary penalty to drive the point home.
Despite the misstep, Campbell has been one of Detroit’s most reliable defenders this season, and the fine hasn’t slowed his impact on the field.
Jameson Williams Fined for Taunting
Wide receiver Jameson Williams received a $17,389 fine for taunting in the fourth quarter.
The moment came late in the game, with emotions running high. Williams has been gaining momentum in recent weeks, but the league clearly wasn’t thrilled with the way he chose to celebrate.
The Lions want his intensity—just not the kind that results in deductions from his paycheck.
Fines Issued, Focus Unchanged
Even with the financial penalties, both Campbell and Williams remain critical contributors as Detroit pushes toward the playoffs. The Lions rebounded impressively against the Cowboys, and their overall confidence is soaring.
Now the hope is that future weeks feature more big plays—and fewer letters from the league office.
