Across the course of the weekend, competitors from all across the nation and even abroad competed in the 102nd Annual Ski-Hi Stampede. On Sunday, the winners of two rough stock events were crowned.

There was a tie for first in bareback riding. Jade Taton of Kersey earned 83 points on Louisiana Woman, while Gavin French of College Station, Texas, got 83 points on Desert Inn.

Boyce Kraut of Kim finished in third place with an 82 ½ point ride on SW on Sunday as well. Isaac Ingraham of Eunice, Louisiana, finished fourth on Sunday with 79 ½ points against Nevada Smith.

On Sunday, the champion bull rider was also decided. 86 and a half points earned by Albuquerque, New Mexico resident Scottie Knapp.

The sole other qualified rider was Walsenburg’s Chris McKenna, who finished Friday’s Short Change with 63 points.

Friday saw the crowning of the saddle bronc champion, Gus Gaillard of Morse, Texas, who rode Cool Hand Luke to an impressive 86 ½ points.

On Friday, Kody Rinehart from Rienzi, Mississippi, finished in second place with 84 ½ points on Cow Camp.

On Karen’s Klown on Saturday, Weatherford, Texas resident Blake Starrett came in third place with 82 points. After his bareback ride, Jade Taton placed fourth on Flirtin’ Voice on Sunday with 79 ½ points.

Joe Priebe of Cody, Wyo., and Jack Skavdahl of Harrison, Neb., both scored 76 ½ points on Bolo Tie on Sunday, while Ean Price of Leedey, Okla., came in fifth place with 79 points. While Skavdahl rode on Deep Water, Priebe rode on Sweetness.

Permit bareback riding: Jacoby Campbell of Brighton finished second with 62 points on Crabby Steve, and Cauy Betony of Tonalea, Ariz., won with 70 ½ points on Ghost Ride. Friday was the day for both rides.

Coleman Shallbetter led the permit saddle bronc riding on Friday with Black Silver scoring 78 points.

On Maiden Voyage on Friday as well, Skinny Parsons of Springdale, Arkansas, came in second with 77 ½ points. In other events, Los Lunas, New Mexico’s Brady Reneau won steer wrestling on Saturday in 4.1 seconds.

Yampa’s Jace Logan finished second on Sunday in 5.6, followed by Logan Kenline of Penrose in third place in 6.5, Brighton’s Talon Sterkel in fourth place in 6.8, Jacob Wang of Laramie, Wyo.

in fifth place on Friday in 7.2, Yuma’s Zach Hamar and Brian Snell tied for sixth place in 7.4 on Sunday, and Hadley Jackson of La Junta in eighth place on Friday in 7.8.

Riley Pruitt of Gering, Nebraska, won tie-down roping with an 8.6-second run in the slack. In the slack, Jayden Broussard of Broussard, Louisiana, came in second in 9.1 seconds.

Roan Hudson of Arcadia, Florida, placed fifth in 9.8, Dean Holyan of Coyote Canyon, New Mexico, placed third in 9.5 on Friday, Blaze Byler of Bellvue, Texas, placed fourth in 9.7 on Saturday, and Jacques Trahan of Hackberry, Louisiana, placed sixth in 10.3 in the slack.

On Friday, Ryan Belew from La Junta finished seventh in 10.9, while on Sunday, Brody Stallard from Fort Sumner, New Mexico, finished eighth in 11.0.

Taryn Boxleitner of Loveland won barrel racing on Friday in the women’s division in 15.62 seconds.

Jentry Vandenberg of Bellvue placed third in the slack on Friday, Amanda Welsh of Stephenville, Texas, placed fourth in the slack on Friday, Loralee Ward of Fort Lupton placed fifth in the slack, Codi Hartman of Whitesboro, Texas, placed sixth in the slack on Sunday, Fallon Taylor of Collinsville, Texas, placed seventh in the slack on Sunday, C.J. Vondette of Rifle placed eighth in the slack on Sunday, Tara Seaton of Winslow, Ariz., placed ninth in the slack on Sunday, and Madison Bean of Lubbock, Texas, placed tenth in the slack on Sunday. With timings of 2.6 seconds, Taya McAdow of Fort Lupton and Amber Hutto of North Zulch, Texas, tied for first place in the breakaway roping. Hutto’s time was on Saturday, and McAdow’s was in the slack.

nearby rodeo Three events made up the local rodeo: team roping, tie-down roping, and barrel racing.

Tate Huffaker and Monte Huffaker won the team roping competition on Friday in 13.5 seconds.

Third place went to Brian Cowan and Aaron Laske in 19.7, followed by Tate Koenig and Bailey Danylo in 18.4.

Travis Canty won the local tie-down roping competition on Friday and Saturday, clocking in at 12.2 seconds.

Grant Koenig finished third in 23.7, Ryan Canty came in second in 20.1, and Tucker Canty finished fourth in 25.5. Rosemary Egolf won the barrel race on Saturday and Sunday in a time of 16.67 seconds.

Megan Davenport finished fourth in 17.02, Raelyn Bouet third in 16.78, and Bailey Danylo second in 16.74.
