When it came to California Rodeo Salinas, Jeter Lawrence achieved all of his goals.
Jeter Lawrence of Oklahoma recently secured a victory that enhanced his already remarkable rookie campaign. Some people consider California Rodeo Salinas to be a must-see rodeo, and Lawrence has already declared himself your Resistol Rookie of the Week.
In the inaugural Big Week Bull Riding Xtreme Bulls, Lawrence scored an impressive 87 points against Westec Joe of Four Star Rodeo. The youngster received an early $3,000 to advance to the Final Round, where he was defeated by Speck of Bridwell Pro Rodeo. Lawrence was the third-place cowboy in the Average since just one other cowboy rode two. Just from the Big Week Bull Riding, he claimed more than $7,000.
Lawrence had the momentum going into California Rodeo Salinas, exactly where he wanted it. The same bull from the previous evening, Westec Joe, was the opponent in their rematch. With an 86.5-point ride, it played to place Lawrence second in the Round once more. Naughty Sal of Flying U Rodeo would be his bull on Championship Sunday. There would only be one matchup in which a score—an outstanding 88 points—would appear on the scoreboard.
After adding $18,800 from the California Rodeo Salinas to his Big Week Bull Riding pay day, Lawrence is now the 10th-ranked bull rider in the world. Additionally, he has leapt back to the top of the Resistol Rookie Race by $10,000. Your Resistol Rookie Athlete of the Week is Lawrence, who rode at the storied California Rodeo Salinas like a pro.
