Veterans continue to find new deals around the league on Tuesday. Safety Adrian Amos is signing with the Jaguars, Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 reports.

Jacksonville is missing healthy safety depth at the moment, with Andrew Wingard dealing with a knee issue. That issue might lead to missing time in the regular season, especially considering the team’s investment in another veteran at the position. During the previous season, Amos played for both the Jets and the Texans.

The 31-year-old played for the Bears and Packers in equal measure during his first eight seasons in the NFC North. There was time he spent with Darnell Savage while playing in Green Bay.

The latter was one of Jacksonville’s winter free agent additions, and he will now, at least temporarily, be reunited with Amos.

With this addition, the Jags hope to bolster their veteran defense depth, even though Amos spent most of the previous year on special teams.

Upon his arrival in Duval County, the former fifth-round pick, who has 142 outings and 125 starts under his belt, will contend for playing time. André Cisco, a member of the first team in each of the last two seasons, provides coverage for one starting safety place.

During that time, Cisco has recorded seven interceptions and fifteen pass deflections; a successful campaign would increase the pending free agent’s market worth.

Savage is a safety option for Jacksonville, though the team has also tried him in a slot corner role. Terrell Edmunds and Antonio Johnson are the team’s other backend options.

Amos will try to maintain his status as a depth/special teams player while competing for a roster spot on his new team.
