Ezekiel Elliott, the running back for the Dallas Cowboys, is almost fully recovered. The first game of the season will be against the Cleveland Browns. Elliott joined the New England Patriots this summer, where he was a useful member of a subpar offense, following a heartbreaking farewell.
Zeke is prepared to return to the field as a Cowboy, but Dallas’ allure forced him back to his starting position. “It means a lot to be back here, you know, repping a star on my helmet, excited to get the season going,” Elliott said. Elliott’s soul is gladdened by his return to Dallas, but so is his reunion with quarterback Dak Prescott.
They grew up in the NFL together after being selected in the 2016 draft. How is the relationship between Zeke and you now, a year after they parted ways in New England? “I would just say our bond [has] grown stronger and stronger through the time, well eight years,” Elliott added. “Seem as like it was yesterday we got drafted but just everything we’ve been through all the highs all the lows, so I mean definitely just gotten stronger.”
Elliott is still valuable in the run game, particularly in circumstances involving the goal line and short yardage, even though he may not be the same running back that he once was. Zeke will share runs with Rico Dowdle and potentially Dalvin Cook, just like he did with Tony Pollard in 2022, as the Cowboys go with a running back by committee this season. Even though some doubt Zeke’s abilities, he cannot ignore the significance of Dak and the organization in his life.
Elliott continued, “It is just home; Dallas is home.”
