Olympic champion Julien Alfred won the 100-meter race at the Diamond League finals in Brussels on Friday, with American rival Sha’Carri Richardson finishing far behind.

Richardson had won in Zurich, where the two had previously finished tied, but at King Baudouin Stadium, the tables turned. Alfred finished in 10.88 seconds.

Britain took second place with a time of 10.92 seconds, and Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith from Ivory Coast was third with 11.05 seconds. Richardson, who eased up before the finish line, ended up eighth in the nine-runner race with a time of 11.23 seconds.
