Among the many concerns facing the Cowboys as they head into Week 3 against the Ravens, the wide receiver position is relatively low on the list.

The running back committee has been in disarray, the defensive line was just overpowered, and rookie left tackle Tyler Guyton is struggling.

While having depth behind star receiver CeeDee Lamb, who’s rusty after missing all summer due to a contract holdout, would be helpful, the Cowboys have bigger problems to address.

Yet, when it comes to addressing some of the roster’s issues, acquiring a receiver could be an easier fix. The Cowboys aren’t giving up on Guyton, they won’t trade for a running back, and the defensive line needs a major overhaul.

With that in mind, ESPN insider Dan Graziano believes the Cowboys could fix one problem they want to solve—adding a solid No. 2 receiver behind Lamb. This could be Carolina receiver Diontae Johnson.

Diontae Johnson Has Had Effort Issues

Johnson is undeniably talented, which has piqued the Cowboys’ interest. At his best, he’s a No. 1 receiver, having recorded 107 catches and 1,161 yards during his 2021 Pro Bowl season with the Steelers. But it’s also clear why the Steelers traded him to Carolina for cornerback Donte Jackson and a pick swap.

Johnson’s lack of effort, including his route running and blocking, has been an issue throughout his career, enough for Pittsburgh to offload him. Johnson is in the final year of a two-year, $37 million contract he signed with the Steelers.
