Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has reacted to the Green Bay Packers’ post-game trash talk after the Lions’ 24-14 win over their division rivals on Sunday, November 4.
The Lions’ victory left some hard feelings among the Packers, who aren’t accustomed to losing, especially to a divisional opponent. After the game, the Packers reportedly made a few jabs in the locker room, which Goff addressed publicly.
On November 5, Goff appeared on the radio station 97.1 The Ticket and shared his thoughts on the post-game trash talk.
Goff’s Response to Jenkins’ Comment
Following the loss, Packers offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins commented, “The team that executed obviously won the game. But the better team didn’t.” Goff found the comment amusing. When asked about it, he chuckled and said, “Yeah, I heard it, that’s alright, he can say that. All good.”
Goff also spoke about the challenging weather conditions at Lambeau Field. “Probably the rainiest, wettest game I’ve played in, but I felt prepared,” Goff remarked. “We practiced all week with a wet ball, and it showed.” He noted that the Lions were ready, which helped avoid drops and slips.
Despite the tough weather, Goff performed well, completing 18 of 22 passes for 145 yards without any interceptions. He later told Fox Sports’ Erin Andrews, “We’re supposed to be the dome team, the team that can’t play outside, and we come in here and win.”
On the radio show, Goff added that he’s often doubted as a quarterback in poor weather, saying, “So yeah, it gets me going, certainly, and I think our whole team.”
Preparation Key to the Lions’ Success
Knowing they’d face bad weather, Lions coach Dan Campbell described the team’s preparation. He told 97.1 The Ticket that they “drenched the footballs” during practice, which paid off.
“Every period we had a wet ball,” Campbell said. “We didn’t wet the field, but we had wind, especially on Thursday. It was awesome,” he added, crediting the preparation for helping the team excel in the tough conditions.
