The Detroit Lions welcomed back two key starters as they began preparations for the divisional-round, but there is concern over an offensive line injury.
Running back David Montgomery (knee) and cornerback Terrion Arnold (foot) were both listed as full participants in Tuesday’s walkthrough, though these designations were estimated. Montgomery is expected to return after missing three games due to injury, and the Lions are eager to have him back. Head coach Dan Campbell emphasized Montgomery’s importance to the team, calling him a “bell cow” and a “tone-setter” who will play a significant role in the upcoming game.
Arnold, who was carted off the field during the team’s crucial final regular-season game, is making good progress and remains day-to-day with a foot contusion. It seems he is on track to fulfill his promise to return after the injury.
Meanwhile, offensive guard Kevin Zeitler (hamstring), cornerback Ennis Rakestraw (hamstring/illness), and defensive lineman Pat O’Connor (calf) were all absent from practice. Rakestraw, who has been on injured reserve since November, had his 21-day window for a potential return opened last week. O’Connor suffered an injury during the season finale, and Campbell has expressed uncertainty about his return. The most pressing concern, however, is Zeitler, who injured his hamstring in the win over Minnesota. He has been sidelined since, with limited updates regarding his condition.
Campbell mentioned that everyone is receiving treatment, but there is still uncertainty surrounding Zeitler and Arnold’s statuses heading into the week.
