Jaxson Robinson took the court as a starter against Oklahoma on Wednesday but was absent for the second half due to an ongoing wrist injury.

Robinson’s Injury Status

Robinson initially hurt his wrist in a practice collision on February 7. Despite playing in a win over South Carolina the next day, he had since missed four consecutive games—victories against Tennessee and Vanderbilt and losses to Texas and Alabama. Prior to his injury, Robinson had started in all 23 of Kentucky’s games this season.

On Wednesday, he played 12 first-half minutes and contributed seven points, two steals, and an assist in Kentucky’s narrow 83-82 victory.

Kentucky head coach Mark Pope shared that Robinson’s wrist “didn’t respond great” and emphasized that the team will monitor his condition moving forward. Pope also suggested that playing in Oklahoma carried extra significance for Robinson, who hails from the state.

Lamont Butler’s Return

The Wildcats also welcomed back another key player in Lamont Butler. The starting point guard had missed the previous three games after aggravating a shoulder injury during Kentucky’s home win over Tennessee on February 11.

Butler played 20 minutes against Oklahoma before fouling out. He finished the game with seven points, making all five of his free throws, along with four rebounds and six assists.

Pope noted that Butler had been improving for over a week and that the team felt this stretch of games provided a good opportunity for him to ease back into competition. However, Butler is currently playing with a tight brace to stabilize his shoulder, which slightly limits his movement.

As with any injury, Pope emphasized that the key indicator will be how both players feel the following morning.
