Just hours ahead of the 2025 Hall of Fame Game featuring the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Chargers in Canton, Ohio, video game developer EA Sports unveiled the top 10 ratings for every position group in the forthcoming Madden 26 video game. Over a dozen Lions discovered themselves among distinguished peers. A total of eight players from Detroit ranked in the top 10 of their positions, with five representing the offense and three the defense. The rankings are determined by their campaign for 2024. At the forefront were wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and offensive tackle Penei Sewell, each achieving a 96 overall rating — ranked third in their specific categories. Sewell, having played 1,144 snaps last season, permitted just one sack. Pro Football Focus gave him an overall rating of 87.5. St. Brown had another Pro Bowl year, recording 115 catches for 1,263 yards and 12 touchdowns. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs, who led the NFL with 20 touchdowns and ranked fifth in rushing yards last season (1,412), received an overall rating of 95, putting him third among running backs. Edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson was given a 93 overall score, placing him sixth in his position. Safety Kerby Joseph, who topped the NFL with nine interceptions in 2024, ranked eighth among safeties with a rating of 90. Quarterback Jared Goff, a finalist for the 2024 NFL MVP award, enjoyed one of the most productive seasons of his career, completing 72.4% of his throws for 4,629 yards and a record-setting 37 touchdowns. He placed sixth among quarterbacks with an overall rating of 87
Tight end Sam LaPorta, the first tight end in NFL history to achieve a minimum of 600 receiving yards and six touchdowns in both of his initial seasons, received an 86 rating, placing him ninth in his position. Safety Brian Branch completed the group with an 89 overall rating, placing ninth among safeties — just one position behind Joseph. Although Madden ratings don’t determine the actual NFL performance, they frequently generate lighthearted discussion among players. The franchise, named in honor of the late Hall of Fame coach John Madden, has been a significant part of both pop culture and gaming since its launch in 1988 as John Madden Football. Madden 26 will launch across all gaming platforms on August 14, 2025.
