On Wednesday, West Virginia football started its preseason camp. Following practice, Neal Brown gave the media an update on the team’s injury status.
Brown mentioned the return of a few key players who were injured either in the autumn or during spring practice.
Running back CJ Donaldson Jr. and tight end Kole Taylor are two of the team’s top players; both are available for full sessions. Jaheem Joseph, a defensive back transfer from Northwestern who was hurt in the spring but is now ready for full practice, will be joining them.
Three defensive returners from last season—defensive linemen Asani Redwood, Oryend Fisher, and cornerback Jacolby Spells—as well as incoming wide receiver Dom Collins have resumed practice but are still restricted in their physical capabilities.
As previously mentioned, incoming freshman offensive lineman Kyle Altuner will miss a significant amount of time this fall due to a lower body ailment. However, according to Brown, Altuner should return to practice before the regular season ends.
The injury sustained during spring practice has also sidelined defensive lineman Corey McIntyre. But Brown hinted that McIntyre would return to action this autumn, just like Altuner did. Maurice Hamilton, a defensive lineman, and Jairo Faverus, a linebacker from last season’s team, are also injured players. Sadly, their injuries have rendered them medically ineligible to play collegiate athletics.
