Liverpool confirmed yesterday that Fabinho had left the club on a permanent deal, and his good friend Alisson parted ways with him after the transfer was announced.
The Red Devils have now lost three players to Saudi Arabia – Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson and now Fabinho. The latter is believed to be the biggest loss of the three, and they will need to find a replacement.
Liverpool posted a video on their X/Twitter and other social media yesterday in which some of their star players say goodbye to Fabinho. Fellow Brazilian Allison is one of them.
Alisson’s message to Fabinho after leaving Liverpool
Liverpool signed Fabinho from Monaco in the summer of 2018.
The Brazilian took a while to adapt but later became one of Liverpool’s most important players. He has played a huge role in helping the Reds win every title over the last 5 years.
Fabinho, like many of his teammates, has had a disappointing season last time out but is expected to stay at Liverpool and return to his best form.
However, the Saudi side Al Itthad made a lucrative offer for the 29-year-old, and he decided to accept and ended his five years at Anfield. Several Liverpool players paid tribute to Fabinho in a video posted yesterday.
Among them was Alisson, who said:
“I’m not too happy to be here to say goodbye, but I know that all good things come to an end.
“You are like my family, you and Rebeca (Fabinho’s wife), you are like my brother and sister. I love you man.”
Liverpool now have a Fabinho-sized space in the middle of their pitch.
The Brazilian has been one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League for many years. He’s been outstanding for the Reds and is one of the main reasons they do so well.
Now Liverpool need to bring in a replacement. Romeo Lavia has been closely linked but Southampton are not budging by their claims. This makes things complicated for Klopp, and he needs to find a way to put someone who can perform at the necessary level in this all-important number six role.
