Liverpool are no mystery club that have made an offer worth more than £80m for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.

According to a report from The Athletic on Wednesday, sources close to the south coast club say they have recently received offers for the 21-year-old, far exceeding those from Chelsea. in pursuit of his summer signing.

The revelation has led to speculation that Liverpool may have entered the fray as they continue to look for reinforcements in midfield following the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.

However, This Is Anfield understands that the Red Devils are not involved in the battle for Caicedo’s signature.

Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia remains the focal point of the club although offers of up to £37m and £41m have been rejected in recent days.

The rejection of this latest offer has forced Liverpool to evaluate alternatives, including Fluminense star Andre Trindade.

It is understood contact has been made with the Brazilian club about the 22-year-old, who is valued at around £20 million.

However, Fluminense will be reluctant to allow him to leave until the end of their season, making a arrival before January highly unlikely.

Lavia remains a priority and a third offer for the Belgian youngster, who is valued at £50m by Southampton, is expected in the coming days.

But, Liverpool are racing against time to get the 19-year-old before the start of the Premier League season, with a trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea just 10 days ago.
