Football Insider now claim Liverpool are the mystery club making the move to sign the midfielder from Chelsea after contacting Brighton this week. However, Liverpool’s offer is still low compared to Brighton’s £100m valuation, so it remains to be seen if they can strike a deal.

Jurgen Klopp has lost five midfielders this summer and has so far only brought in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai as replacements.

The departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho mean the Red Devils will have to add more forces when the Premier League season begins next week. Caicedo will be the perfect replacement for Fabinho in the defensive midfield role, so it is not surprising that Liverpool hit the mark. The young midfielder has been named Player of the Season after an impressive display in midfield for Brighton last season. He has played 43 games and scored two goals that are sixth in the Premier League.

We will have to wait and see how Chelsea responds to Liverpool’s offer, but the Blues are expected to make another offer in the coming days as the race for Caicedo’s signature intensify.

Liverpool are the mystery club that have submitted an £80m offer for Moises Caicedo as they look to usurp Chelsea’s move for the Brighton and Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder, according to Football Insider.

Chelsea have been pursuing Caicedo all summer but have yet to reach an agreement with Brighton for the Ecuador international. According to reports, the Blues have seen several offers rejected with the latest offer of £75m plus £5m in surcharge having been rejected by the Seagulls.

Brighton are demanding more than £100m for the much-loved midfielder and reports suggest the south coast club are currently planning a new season with Caicedo under the direction of Roberto De Zebri.

The 21-year-old is also an influential figure on De Zerbi – who has openly admitted to wanting to keep Caicedo. Chelsea are said to be ready to make a more qualified offer for the South American midfielder in the coming days.

However, Chelsea’s failure to reach an agreement with Brighton opened the door for Liverpool to seize the transfer. Athletic reported this week that an unknown club had made an offer of more than £80m for Caicedo, beating Chelsea’s most recent offer.
