Liverpool are keen to sign Roméo Lavia from Southampton and have seen offers rejected by the Saints.

Two days ago, journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported that Southampton were demanding £40m for their star. He also said the Reds were ready to make their ‘third and final’ offer.

Southampton take on Sheffield on Wednesday in the first game of the season tonight.

Tavolieri took to Twitter to say he has confirmed that Russell Martin will include a Liverpool target in his squad. This means there will be “no upcoming transfers today” for the 19-year-old.

Therefore, Jurgen Klopp’s army will have to wait a little longer to bring the Belgian international to Anfield.

Liverpool see Jordan Henderson and Fabinho move to Saudi Arabia this summer after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keïta and James Milner were released at the end of last season.

The Reds have added Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai to their squad and are still in talks to sign at least one midfielder. This is where Lavia will find her place.
After Southampton included him in the squad for Saturday’s clash, Liverpool may need to improve their offer to secure the Belgian’s services.

If they are worried his gam

e is at risk of injury, then that offer needs to be made quickly.
