Kylian Mbappe is a “huge” admirer of Liverpool and would rather join them on what would be a sensational season-long loan than his many other suitors around the world, sources have told Football Insider.

But there is little chance of the Paris Saint-Germain superstar completing a shock move to Anfield before the window shuts.

Jurgen Klopp publicly laughed off the possibility earlier this week as Mbappe looks to find a solution for the final year of his contract.

The 24-year-old was dropped from PSG’s pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea and put up for sale on July 21 because PSG knew he wasn’t going to renew his contract and they wanted to sell him as quickly as possible.

They believe he has already agreed to join Real Madrid when he becomes a free agent next summer.

PSG do not want to let him leave for free when his deal expires next summer – the stand-off between player and club intensified when he was not interested in discussing a potential one-year move to Saudi Arabia last week after Al Hilal lodged a world-record £259m bid.

Liverpool have been touted as a potential destination for the France sensation, who nearly joined them as a 15-year-old before instead opting to sign for Monaco.

Although it would solve the Frenchman’s playing time issues, it would place PSG in a precarious position regarding a potential fee before his contract expires.

The French giants would be keen to discuss a loan with an obligation to buy him before next summer, but Liverpool do not have the financial resources to afford Mbappe on a permanent deal.

A loan would not be impossible, as it is believed that sponsors would contribute to the vast salary commanded by the World Cup hat-trick hero.

However, anything beyond that is out of the question for the Merseysiders despite the affection Mbappe and his mother, who is his main agent, have for Liverpool.

Both are believed to be big admirers of the club and the team’s entertaining and watchable playing style under Klopp.

Jurgen Klopp delivered the Liverpool team a direct warning: from the first day of preseason “We had better do that.”

Jurgen Klopp spoke ahead of Liverpool’s pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich in Germany

Exciting knockouts against German second-tier teams and a challenging match against relegated Premier League rivals will be worth them.

However, Liverpool will learn more about their pre-season preparations when they step onto the pitch once again at the National Stadium in Singapore this evening.

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, former rival of Jurgen Klopp, will be a familiar foe in the penultimate friendly of the Reds’ warm-up programme.

While unlike last year, other injuries have been prevented so far, the interruption this time is the loss of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to Saudi Arabia and the scramble to replace them, which had been thought Midfield renovations have largely been done with the £95m signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Bayern, as boss Thomas Tuchel admitted on Tuesday, are not without their own problems in sixth place, as they also have to deal with the aftermath of the players losing to Saudi Arabia when the former’s forward Liverpool, Sadio Mane join the exodus. Their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is still ongoing.

They would, however, represent a significant increase in the level the Red Devils have faced in recent weeks, with Bayern narrowly losing 1-2 to Manchester City in Japan last week before hitting defeated J1 League side Kawasaki Frontale 1-0 on Saturday.

“Without a doubt, this is the most difficult game for us,” said Klopp. “We have seen similar footage from their previous matches in Japan, including the one against Manchester City. Bayern has a tradition of being a very good team.

“They have four world-class centre-backs, two world-class midfield pairs, attack speed, everything and technique, finishing skills. It’s quite impressive.

“But we want a strong opponent, so this is definitely the most difficult test for us before this season. That’s what we need right now. “I’m very excited. I can see where we are, how we can adapt to the quality of the opponent. From the first day we came back to prepare for the season, I tried my best. Try to make our defense work stably.” a whole different level from last season. We should do it or we’ll be in real trouble.

The uncertainty caused by unexpected departures means that, despite careful planning, preparations are not ideal for Liverpool as they look to regain their Champions League spot after For the first time since 2016.

Indeed, Klopp is not even thinking of launching a fourth title challenge in six seasons – and has suggested that only Manchester City can be so ambitious.

“We need points and lots of points,” he said. “Yes, a club of Liverpool’s caliber must succeed. If not, the club must find another solution.

“Nobody except Man City can have a real goal of being champions again this year. All the other teams are fighting for the Champions League and that’s what we’re doing. The sooner you qualify for the Champions League, the higher you are in the table… if you’re second and a significant distance from first, you might have a chance. I don’t know who will be there.

“For us, it’s not about that. It was Bayern, Darmstadt and then Chelsea. These are the games that I am thinking of. “It’s important to bring together the best players, that’s to create the atmosphere, the spirit and the common desire that we can really use as a basis to make the best season possible. If we can do that, we’ll be in a good position.

More than 50,000 supporters are expected to attend Wednesday’s match – most of them Liverpool supporters – with the Reds’ significant presence in the city during their stay.

“We are closer to part of our fan base,” said Klopp. “It was a huge fanbase. Unbelievable. People are camping in front of our hotel and waiting for us every day.

“The game will be sold out – and I know it has nothing to do with us, because Bayern are also famous. Every now and then, no matter how nasty the weather and travel, we have to show up because we can’t expect everyone to watch us on TV all the time.

“We have to show that we are human, that they can get autographs. Despite all the hassles we face in making a trip like this, we are really happy to be here.
