Liverpool transfer news: Jürgen Klopp is supposedly eyeing up a double midfield move while the Reds have been watching one $44m-rated target since January 2020.

Liverpool does not often leave it late in the transfer market wherever possible, but things might go down to the wire for two successive summers as things stand.

Last year, it was an emergency loan deal for Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo that was decided as the best course of action when it was realized that Liverpool needed a midfielder — this time, a repeat is simply not something that can be countenanced.

That is why Liverpool is currently considering its next move, though with the new season only just over a week away from starting, there is not loads of time left to get things sorted.

he transfer window does not actually close until September 1 so there are still 27 days in which to do business, but the sooner the next arrivals can come in, the sooner they will be integrated and properly available to play a big part.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today, starting with the latest update from Brazil on South American midfield talent André who is the latest name on the lips of fans around the world.

Brazilian media outlet Globo Esporte reports that Liverpool has been following midfield target André Trindade for three years, since the player was only 19.

Jürgen Klopp’s side has been following the player since January 2020, the report says, when it first watched him in an U20 Copa São Paulo match, a renowned youth tournament where European scouts often tend to pick up on promising South American talent.

André has been impressing for Fabinho , with the Brazilian side reluctant to let him leave until the January transfer window, by which time its season will have been concluded. He has a release clause worth $44m (£35m/€40m) in his contract.

In an ideal world, Liverpool would get two more midfield signings over the line this summer, Sky Sports’ Melissa Reddy has tweeted, amid links to both Roméo Lavia and André.

Two specific profiles are wanted: a ‘controller’ and a ‘progressive destroyer’, which are essentially the midfield styles that Thiago Alcântara and Fabinho have offered over the past few seasons.
