Perr Schuurs, a defender for Torino who will cost €40 million, has been linked to moves by Liverpool and West Ham United.
According to a Calciomercato rumor, Perr Schuurs, a Dutch defender, will cost Liverpool and West Ham United close to €40 million to acquire this summer from Serie A club Torino.

The 23-year-old made an immediate impact after moving to Torino last summer. Over the past year, he has been an important player for the Serie A team. It is therefore not surprising that they want to ask for the premium for him.

The Dutchman is highly regarded throughout Europe, and if Liverpool and West Ham United are successful in acquiring him, he might mature into a world-class ball-playing defense. The Reds need to add defensive reinforcements this summer, but their attempt to recruit Schuurs was unsuccessful.

Last season, players like Joe Gomez and Joel Matip didn’t exactly impress. Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are currently the only dependable defenders in the team. Therefore, Jurgen Klopp must add more quality at the back.

The 23-year-old defender may find it alluring to have the chance to team up with his countryman at the club level. And it is still to be seen if van Dijk and Cody Gakpo can sway the outstanding young defender’s judgment.

It remains to be seen how the issue plays out, but both Liverpool and West Ham have the means to pay the rumored €40 million asking price. Meanwhile, West Ham’s defense was fairly weak last year, and David Moyes has to find Nayef Aguerd a strong partner.

The Moroccan international and the Dutch defender might make a strong team next season. The youngster will be excited about the chance to show off his skills in the Premier League and will be hoping that the teams can quickly come to an agreement.

The UEFA Europa League will be played by West Ham the next season, so they will need a stronger defense to compete there. They will undoubtedly get their backs to tighten up with someone like Schuurs. Liverpool, meanwhile, had a dismal 2022–23 season and will aim to fully recover and challenge for the league crown once more.

In the upcoming weeks, it will be intriguing to watch which of the two English clubs is able to reach an agreement with Torino. Although the asking price of €40 million may appear high at this time, the 23-year-old has the ability to return on the investment in the upcoming campaigns.
