Mohamed Salah celebrated Steven Gerrard's slip but could soon repay Liverpool fans - Daily Star

Steven Gerrard says he does not want to see Mohamed Salah in the Saudi Pro League anytime soon – after it emerged the Liverpool forward was the latest big-name star being targeted by mega-rich Saudi clubs.

Reports from Saudi Arabia claimed that Al Ittihad, who have already signed Fabinho from Liverpool this summer along with Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante, were ready to pounce. However, Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas quickly denied the player had any interest in leaving Liverpool given he signed a new long-term contract extension just last year.

Asked if his own club, Al-Ettifaq, would consider a bid, Gerrard replied:” No. The answer is no because Mohamed Salah is my favourite player, I love Liverpool Football Club, so Mohamed can stay where he is. When he wins more leagues and more Champions Leagues with Liverpool, we’ll maybe consider it.”

Mane’s path crossed with Henderson’s at a launch party for the Saudi Pro League, which kicks off on Monday when Al-Ettifaq host Al-Nassr. Their interaction was shared on social media by the league and it showed just how surprising the turn of events which has brought them to the Middle East is.

The two former Liverpool heroes shared a hug before Mane looked Henderson up and down and said simply: “I can’t believe it.” They then embraced for a second time before exchanging pleasantries by asking how each other were.
