Liverpool are on the verge of securing a spot in the Premier League for the 2023–24 season, but who will stand out as the Reds’ most important players this year?

After another year of preseason has passed, focus is now on Sunday’s trip to Chelsea, which promises to be an exciting match.

But at least now we can concentrate on league concerns, and when the new season starts, Liverpool will have so many crucial players.

The top five Reds players this season are listed in this order.

ALEXIS MAC ALLISTER 5.

The new player for Liverpool had a good season the last time around, not least because he helped Argentina win the 2022 World Cup, and he has adapted well to his new surroundings.

Although the 24-year-old has only recently moved to Anfield, his enthusiasm and quality in possession will be crucial to the Reds’ style of play because that region of the field was so deficient in both in 2022–23.

Mac Allister’s game has elements of Ilkay Gundogan’s, and if he can approach the German’s heights while wearing a Man City jersey, Liverpool will have a true diamond on their hands.

He is a fantastic team player and a highly educated football player who might rapidly win over the audience.

Fourth: TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s ability to continue adjusting to his new hybrid role will be crucial to the style of play and future success of Jurgen Klopp’s club.

The Englishman has occasionally excelled in the position, demonstrating his astonishing passing prowess, but Liverpool also appear worrisomely exposed when he leaves his right-back position and opponents counterattack them.

Regarding Trent’s long-term role, it is still too early to tell if this is the best course of action, but he may give the Reds a new attacking dimension in the center of the field and stand out even more as a creative wizard.

However, after a dismal season, he needs to work on his defensive skills if Liverpool wants to avoid having trouble stopping opponents.                  muhammed SALAH 3.

You ask, “How is Mo Salah not No. 1?”

The biggest reason is that Liverpool now has plenty of attacking options, including Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, and Cody Gakpo, all of whom are excellent choices.

Despite this, Salah continues to be an immensely crucial player who virtually ensures 30 goals across all competitions each year. His killer instinct, mindset, and influence are unmatched by anybody else in the final third.

Maintaining the 31-year-old’s fitness is crucial; it hasn’t been a problem in the past. However, a long-term injury to him may ruin Liverpool’s season.

If Salah isn’t already very close to the top of the list of all-time Liverpool greats, another exceptional season would further elevate him.

Virigil Van Dijk 2.

Last season, it was unusual to see Virgil van Dijk really resemble a human being. Now, he’s set to start the most significant season of his Liverpool career.

Following last season’s slump, some people think the Dutchman has reached his pinnacle as a footballer, but with a new midfield in front of him — at least one No. 6 still has to be added — the hope is that he looks as good as ever.

Van Dijk is crucial, even though Ibrahima Konate has established himself as a major player in his own right. If he were to revert to his former form as the best center-back in the world, Liverpool would thrive.

On the other hand, if there are further indications that he is losing steam, it would be quite alarming and extremely tough for the Reds to contend for the championship.

ALISSON 1.

No member in Jurgen Klopp’s roster is more crucial right now than Alisson, who was by far Liverpool’s top player in 2022–23.

It’s fair to say that the Reds have appeared a little bit easy to score against during preseason, and the Brazilian looks like he’ll be put to the test in games in the coming months, needing to showcase his elite one-on-one skill and flawless all-around game.

While Salah and Van Dijk are valuable players, Alisson, 30, has now surpassed them in terms of importance despite being the best goalkeeper in the Premier League and possibly the entire world.

He has been known to take a few knocks over the years, so the idea of him missing a significant amount of action isn’t even worth considering. However, Liverpool needs him to duplicate last year’s achievements if the Reds are to contend.
