Liverpool haven’t lost at Stamford Bridge since the coronavirus pandemic

Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai could make their Liverpool debut

Liverpool begin the 2023/24 Premier League season with a trip to Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

Jurgen Kloppφ has lost just one of his eight visits to Chelsea in the English top flight – when he was fouled on an Olivier Giroud goal in May 2018. Liverpool beat Chelsea in both domestic cup finals in 2022 but hasn’t lost the Blues in regulation time beaten for almost three years.

Here are the eleven Klopp could use to kick off the new season with a bang.
Expected composition of Liverpool against Chelsea (4-3-

CB: Ibrahima Konate – Building a strong partnership with Virgil van Dijk, but the move to Liverpool’s next centre-back has fans worried.

CB: Virgil Van Dijk – Liverpool’s new captain after Jordan Henderson’s hypocritical departure to Saudi Arabia.

LB: Andy Robertson – only secured a victory at Stamford Bridge on his fifth visit. Robertson last lost at Chelsea in west London five years ago.

CM: Dominik Szoboszlai – Lost his Austrian and German top flight debut against Red Bull clubs in Salzburg and Leipzig.

Now that he’s no longer a pawn in a drinks company’s marketing game,

can Szoboszlai leave for Liverpool straight away?

CM: Curtis Jones-Unless Moises Caicedo is rushed into the starting eleven within days of his arrival, Jones could fill the role of Liverpool’s defensive midfield.

CM: Alexis Mac Allister – Part of the Brighton squad that beat Chelsea home and away last season. Mac Allister is unbeaten in five appearances against the Blues.

RW: Mohamed Salah – The former Chelsea winger has made more appearances and scored more goals against the Blues than ever before in club colours.

ST: Cody Gakpo – He quickly convinced Klopp with his work ethic.

What I like about this is that he’s clearly a guy who doesn’t want to jump on a moving train,” said the Liverpool manager. “He wants to push the train. I like it a lot.”

AS: Luis Diaz – Face a real battle for position as both Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota can fit comfortably on the left wing.
