Two different sources have warned Liverpool that there is a chance Chelsea will usurp their £110m deal for Moises Caicedo as the Blues continue to push despite a deal.

During the summer, the Blues seemed very interested in Caicedo. This continued to happen after they tried to sign him in January but along with Arsenal, their offer was turned down.

But while this summer Chelsea pursued Caicedo, they failed to meet his £100m asking price. In fact, they only consider paying that fee when an ‘auction’ begins with Liverpool ahead of the deadline set by Brighton. But Liverpool were willing to pay the Seagulls’ asking price. In fact, they went above and beyond, making an offer of £110m, which was enough for the two sides to come to an agreement.

The Red Devils have not come out of the forest yet. Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg reports Chelsea are ‘not giving up’ and ‘still trying to beat’ Jurgen Klopp’s men against Caicedo, despite their deal.

Sacha Tavolieri highlights the same fear of being robbed. Indeed, he has told Liverpool to ‘be careful’ as they are ‘not immune’ to a ‘last minute offer’ from Chelsea.

Although the Blues failed to make a serious offer for some time before being pushed back, the fact that they are currently behind eight balls means they will have to accept the offer. Liverpool’s recommendation.

Moises Caicedo frustration over Chelsea transfer saga

Tavolieri also suggested that a hijacking would have a ‘direct impact’ on Romeo Lavia’s future. He has indeed been a big Liverpool target for a while, but Chelsea recently offered him £48m – just less than Southampton’s £50m asking price.

While they seem to be making a mark in this movement, the Caicedo trap will put an end to it. There could very well be a return to the status quo should Chelsea seek to usurp Liverpool’s transfer for the Ecuadorian.

They were the leaders for him, and Liverpool were the leaders for Lavia. If the Blues manage to get their own Caicedo, the Red Devils can completely return to Lavia, who will cost less than half of what they paid for the other.

It remains to be seen if that is the case, but if Chelsea get their way, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Liverpool simply revert back to their original plan, knowing they desperately need a midfielder after the exits of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, among others.
