Liverpool are said to be keen to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton and they continue to pursue the midfielder despite strong interest from Chelsea.

A report from Football Insider claims that Liverpool have a personal deal for the 19-year-old defensive midfielder and it remains to be seen whether they can now agree a deal with Southampton.

Obviously, Liverpool have bid up to £ 48 million for the Belgian midfielder. But Chelsea have come up with a package worth around £55m. It is clear that the Blues are currently leading the way in signing the player.

Chelsea need to replenish their midfield after the departures of N’Golo Kanté and Mateo Kovačić. The 19-year-old could prove to be a quality buy-in in the long-term and he will add a much-needed defense in front of Chelsea’s defence. Similarly, Liverpool accepted the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho earlier this summer, and they will need to bring in a quality defensive midfielder.

Despite being relegated from Southampton last season, the 19-year-old has impressed with his performances in the top flight and it’s no surprise that Chelsea and Liverpool want to sign him.

Lavia is still quite young and will improve with training and experience. Working under managers like Mauricio Pochettino or Jurgen Klopp can help him further progress and unleash his world-class potential.

The two clubs are also said to be vying to sign Moises Caicedo. It will be interesting to see which of the two clubs will sign both midfielders this summer.

I’m sure Chelsea as well as Liverpool will have a personal deal for Lavia.

I’m sure Chelsea have to take into account the problem Liverpool had with Caicedo when they made the highest offer at a time, accepted it, then discovered the player didn’t want to play for them.

If Liverpool want Lavia, they have to pay a higher price than Chelsea for this player. Remember at first Liverpool thought this player was not worth 50 million.

it looks like Liverpool may have been ‘cleaned up’ for both players.
