Mohamed Salah of Liverpool is being pursued by Al Ittihad, who have contacted the Reds to discuss the prospect of a surprise transfer this summer.

Salah’s interest in the Saudi Pro League team first surfaced a few weeks ago, but a new report from Rudy Galetti suggests that Al Ittihad are now serious about negotiating a deal for the 31-year-old and that Salah is open to the possibility of switching teams.

Due to his deep regard for Liverpool, the Egyptian will refrain from pressing for a transfer, giving Jurgen Klopp’s team the freedom to determine whether or not to approve of the transaction.

Now that negotiations have begun between the two parties, it is up to the Reds and Al Ittihad to bring this story to a satisfying end.

The former captain of Liverpool and Fabinho have already left Anfield for Saudi Arabia this summer, with Henderson joining Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq and Fabinho joining Salah’s possible suitors.

Both Nuno Espirito Santo’s team and the other top Saudi teams have already made a number of high-profile acquisitions, including N’Golo Kante of Chelsea and Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema. Salah joining their ranks would be the cherry on top.

Of course, it is unlikely that this transaction will be simple or inexpensive.

Since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2016, the ‘world-class’ winger has been essential to the club’s success. In 218 league games, he has scored 137 goals and won every club football trophy.

Additionally, the transfer window is closing soon. With less than two weeks left before the transfer window closes, the Reds would be urgently grasping at straws to find a viable Salah replacement in time.

For the time being, it’s a rumor to keep an eye on, and the Liverpool supporters should hope it doesn’t pan out.
