To make up for the summer exodus, Liverpool is desperately attempting to add another center midfielder, but they were unable to sign Moises Caicedo, and they are having trouble persuading Romeo Lavia to sign with them. David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that Aurelien Tchouameni is attracting Jurgen Klopp’s attention, although it is unclear whether their efforts to sign the 23-year-old would be fruitful.

Tchouameni transferred from AS Monaco to Real Madrid in 2022, and since then, he has made 51 appearances across all competitions, with four assists. Since the talented defensive midfielder has five years left on his Santiago Bernabeu contract and has been a regular since joining from Ligue 1, Real are unlikely to sell him.

Klopp was left without a midfield heading into the new season after Liverpool sold Fabinho to Ittihad Club and Jordan Henderson to Al-Ettifaq, while Naby Keita, James Milner, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain moved to Werder Bremen, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Besiktas, respectively.

Liverpool has added Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig as a central playmaker and Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton as a replacement midfielder, but they still need more. Curtis Jones, Thiago, and Stefan Bajcetic are capable engine room operators under Klopp, but Tchouameni would be a significant upgrade.

It is clear why Klopp is interested given that no Liverpool player had more interceptions (1.5) than the French international, and only Thiago (2.4) and Ibrahima Konaté (2.1) averaged more tackles per game than the French international (1.9). Tchouameni cost Real €100 million (£86 million) last year, so if Liverpool were to formally approach him, he wouldn’t be cheap.

e he is content in the capital of Spain. Another midfielder would still be useful to Klopp, though it might not be the French international.Ornstein claims that Real Madrid would be hesitant to part with the Frenchman, and Tchouameni is also unwilling to depart. Any attempt by Liverpool to sign the 23-year-old is unlikely to be successful becaus

Lavia might follow Caicedo to Chelsea as well, so Liverpool may need to divert their focus.
