Sofyan Amrabat, a midfielder for Fiorentina, is reportedly “on his way” to Liverpool, according to reports on Wednesday night.

The 26-year-old is close to joining the Reds, according to Dutch publication AD, despite the persistent rumors of a transfer to Atletico Madrid and particularly Manchester United.

According to the report, Liverpool are “on track” to close the transaction in the “coming days.” However, the precise status of the negotiations is now unknown.
According to AD, Amrabat’s move to Anfield is “surprising” because the Reds weren’t very keen in recruiting him this summer.
There were many other admirers of the midfielder, including West Ham, who agreed to pay Fiorentina €35 million but were ultimately turned down by the player.

Jordan Henderson and Fabinho left Liverpool last summer, and the club has been scrambling to sign replacements.

The strongest candidate for Amrabat may have been Manchester United, but given how long they took to act, it appears that Jurgen Klopp’s team recognized an opportunity and may wind up winning the race.
