Wataru Endo, a midfielder for Stuttgart, has been signed by Liverpool in an unexpected transfer, thanks to Jorg Schmadtke’s negotiating skills.

Fabrizio Romano asserts that Liverpool has now made an official offer to sign Endo on a long-term basis.

It is been reported that Endo wants to come to Anfield and that negotiations with Stuttgart are ongoing.

The international Japanese player is aware that this is simply “the biggest opportunity” of his career to date.

Romano calls the decision “surprising,” but Liverpool’s sporting director Jorg Schmadtke is the one who made it.

Schmadtke recently became Liverpool’s interim sporting director after many years with Wolfsburg, so he will certainly know about Endo from his Bundesliga days.

Liverpool have been desperate for midfield additions and Endo could now come in as an option in front of the back four.

Who is Wataru Endo, a target for Liverpool?
Endo began his career with the Japanese team Shonan Bellmare, where he made more than 150 appearances until switching to the Urawa Red Diamonds in 2016.After spending two years there, Endo caught the attention of European teams, and he ultimately signed with Belgian club Sint-Truiden, which has a long tradition of embracing Japanese players like Takehiro Tomiyasu, a defender for Arsenal.

After being impressed, Stuttgart signed him on a temporary loan for the 2019–20 campaign before making the transfer permanent.

Endo, who has made 133 appearances for the club and is currently the club captain, is the beating heart of the Stuttgart team.

The 30-year-old’s persistent performances in the middle of the field have earned him the nickname “soldier” from former Stuttgart manager Pellegrino Matarazzo.

Endo is a strong opponent and skilled in a holding role, both of which Liverpool desperately need.

The Japanese international Endo may not be a superstar, but he is a reliable performer, and with Liverpool desperately in need of choices, he could prove to be a useful squad addition
