Oliver Skipp won’t be starting for Tottenham again, according to Glenn Hoddle, as a result of Pape Matar Sarr’s performance against Manchester United.

The former Tottenham player believes Pape Matar Sarr will start his team’s trip to Bournemouth this Saturday because he “has everything” to offer.

Hoddle believes Oliver Skipp has done “nothing wrong,” as he told Premier League Productions (19/08/23 at 7:45 pm), but he will have to sit on the bench despite having started the opening-day tie against Brentford.

Even though Yves Bissouma and Skipp are more attack-oriented than Sarr is, they both possess defensive qualities that he lacks.

And while attacking the penalty area to get past players in really small spaces, they can do this by being nimble, carrying the ball forward, and showing off fast feet.

Hoddle did, however, comment on Sarr’s performance against Manchester United, which included him scoring the game’s first goal, as well as what that means for Skipp.

“He (Sarr) showed a little bit of everything,” remarked Hoddle. He defends himself with shrewdness. both when he had the ball and when he did not. He can also pass. He raises his head when it is appropriate.

“I believe that young Skipp did nothing wrong, but to me, that represents a boost for the squad. He and Bissouma make a great couple. I believe he has done himself a solid. He will likely play in the following match, and not just because he scored. There is a complete player there.

Skipp will be a success under Postecoglou

Five years have passed since Skipp made his Tottenham debut, yet it still seems like he hasn’t firmly established himself in the starting lineup.

He has been loaned out during that time, and, aside from Ryan Mason, there have been four different managers in charge of the team. That makes things worse.

But Skipp will be a success under the club’s summer hiring if Postecoglou can be kept around for the long haul.
