Reported Liverpool target Andre Trindade has admitted that he’s ‘happy’ to hear rumours linking him with a transfer this summer.

As Liverpool looks to wrap up some unfinished business over the next several days, Andre has been one of the names that has been brought up the most.

Nevertheless, the 22-year-old claims he is still entirely focused on Fluminense in statements from Brazilian site Globo.

It’s evident that making suggestions is a common occurrence, Andre said. “Even more so, given that the team performed well, winning the Conmebol Libertadores championship at the pinnacle of the Brasilieirao. It must have happened to others as well, not just myself.

Although I am pleased with the proposals that come in, Fluminense is the only thing on my mind right now

The Reds’ chase of Andre is a challenging one at the moment, much like with much of Liverpool’s summer window.

Not because the Brazilian player is a bad one. They have really good explanations for why they want to bring him to Anfield.

Andre points out that Fluminense are now performing quite well. The opening leg of a crucial Copa Libertadores quarterfinal is actually taking place tonight. They don’t want to let him go till their season is up in December as a result. That is OK, and Liverpool will have taken that into account.

They have apparently been attempting to capture him nonetheless. On Tuesday night, ESPN Brasil reported that Fluminense had rejected a £26 million approach from the Reds.

However, Liverpool’s approach to the situation is unquestionably odd.

However, it is not what is strange. The strange thing is that ESPN also stated that if they can’t acquire Andre now, Liverpool won’t try again for him in January. That’s a hard one to explain with a lower price tag on his head in the New Year and the player already convinced to join.

They might change their minds if Fluminense loses the Libertadores the next week. But for the time being, Andre appears to be disappearing.
