Although Fluminense midfielder André Trindade is attractive, Liverpool must make additional changes to the field before the deadline.

For Liverpool, the transfer window is closing. The longer the window lasts, the less opportunity Liverpool will have to make quality additions, and at this point, given how many players have already departed Jürgen Klopp’s team, most fans will be dissatisfied if Liverpool concludes the season with just three signings.

André Trindade’s transfer might be one of the most likely ones still possible. The Brazilian plays for Fluminense, and Liverpool is known to admire him and have been keeping an eye on him for some time.

However, the fact that his team Fluminense is still in the Copa Libertadores, Brazil’s version of the Champions League, and is currently playing in the quarterfinals of the competition complicates any chances of bringing him to the club this summer.

Although the club will understandably be reluctant to let André leave, it appears Liverpool will make an effort. According to ESPN, Liverpool’s offer for his services was turned down, and the two teams are reportedly at a standstill.

Given his history as one of the most exciting Brazilian players currently competing in domestic football, André would be a strong addition and a good match for Klopp’s midfield. In a perfect world, a deal is reached during the last week or two of the transfer window.

But in these closing days, Liverpool can go above and beyond merely André.

Liverpool still lacks a center-back and would benefit from adding a player to that position.

However, Liverpool has the opportunity to surpass André in these final hours and do even better.

Liverpool could use a signing in that area as well because the center-back position is currently underpopulated.

But in these closing days, Liverpool can go above and beyond merely André.

Liverpool still lacks a center-back and would benefit from adding a player to that position.

There haven’t been many names touted in the media in that regard, but one potential option cited by Liverpool.com is Feyenoord’s Slovakian international Dávid Hancko, who is still available and would be a suitable match given his versatility as a left-back and center-back.

Hancko would surely be open to a transfer, and because Liverpool wouldn’t have to spend outrageous sums on him, the club could sign both André and the Slovakian international. Transfermarkt puts him at $27 million (£21 million/€25 million), but this is simply a rough estimate; it would be wise to get him for a price that is close to that amount.

The non-homegrown quota would then be the sole issue that persisted. With the addition of the pair, Liverpool would pass the finish line, forcing Klopp to make a decision about the future of one player on his existing roster.

The obvious course of action would be to fire Adrián, but he recently agreed to a new deal with the team this summer. If he were to be kicked off the squad, it would be difficult to convince him or keep him happy.

But for the Reds, that might be the secret to a fruitful transfer window. The club’s issues would be resolved by André and Hancko in both cases. A goalkeeper from the club’s academy might then fill the third goalkeeper position.
