After six years, Mohamed Salah and Liverpool appear to be on the verge of parting ways. The Al-Ittihad bid is expected to be accepted by the Premier League club, leaving the Egypt international with €100 million.

Salah reportedly changed his mind about moving to the Saudi Pro League after first being uninterested in the idea.

The now-31-year-old forward can join his former teammate Fabinho at Al-Ittihad, who also includes World Cup champion N’Golo Kante and Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema, as the next famous athlete to depart the European grounds for an adventure in Saudi Arabia.

Similar to Salah, Liverpool had little interest in acquiring the attacker at first, but Saudi media reports that the outrageous sum given has changed their minds.

Should the deal actually go through, Salah will surpass all previous players in the Saudi Pro League in terms of cost. Only two weeks have passed since Neymar won the title after moving from Paris Saint-Germain to Al-Hilal for €90 million.

The transfer money is undoubtedly a good bonus for Liverpool, but the Reds will also likely need to return to the transfer market as a result of Salah’s departure.

Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner, and Roberto Firmino are just a few of the seasoned players that Jurgen Klopp’s squad has said farewell to this summer.

Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo have all arrived at Anfield, but Liverpool fans have been miffed by the somewhat lengthy recruitment process.

Liverpool would need to move quickly to fill the vacuum left by one of the team’s modern greats if Salah were to go.
