Liverpool have reportedly entered talks to sign a midfielder from one of this season’s Champions League top seeds.

Football Transfers reports that the Reds and Feyenoord’s  are in ‘close touch’ with a potential transfer, however it isMats Wieffer ‘still unclear’ how far along the talks between the two organizations are.

Wieffer, who appeared in 25 league games and made 18 starts (WhoScored), was notable for a few qualities that helped Feyenoord win the Eredivisie last season.

He is in the top 1% of midfielders outside of Europe’s top five leagues for winning the most aerial duels per 90 throughout the previous season (3.35 per game), according to FBref.
