Liverpool have opened talks to sign Cheick Doucoure and could step up their efforts to agree personal terms.

According to French Outlet Sports Zone, Liverpool are working hard to sign Cheick Doucoure as they are currently trying to agree personal terms. Crystal Palace will see losing the midfielder as a bitter blow at this stage and could demand a hefty fee in return.

Liverpool have had quiet periods around the transfer window and fans would basically be hoping for such a scenario. Things are drastically different on Merseyside this time around, with the club likely to make at least one or two late moves. The uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future could force them to look for a replacement if the Egyptian leaves. Finding a suitable holding midfielder before the window closes is more urgent as Jurgen Klopp evaluates a number of options.

The arrival of Wataru Endo may have been a short-term deal, as the Japanese star does not look like a surefire starter. Klopp may want another name as he is quite strengthened in other midfield positions with Dominic Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister.
They currently have a number of players on their radar such as Ryan Gravenberch, Sofyan Amrabat and Cheick Doucoure. Fluminense star Andrea was also wanted, but the Brazilian team rejected all offers from Liverpool.
Cheick Doucoure became the main target after Liverpool lost the race for Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo. Crystal Palace may have outlined a price tag earlier in the window,

but now they could demand significantly more for the Malian midfielder.
Losing him is a blow for the Eagles as they may not have enough time to find a suitable replacement. Liverpool have been in contact with Doucoure and could speed up their efforts to agree personal terms in the first place. The idea revolves around securing terms with the 23-year-old Premier League midfielder and negotiating with Palace.

They are planning a similar approach with another target, Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz, but landing the Brazilian is much more difficult than Doucoure.
As such, Doucoure seems like an attainable target at the moment, so this move could materialize ahead of schedule.

Doucoure brings much-needed stability as the 23-year-old Premier League midfielder is full of experience and guile.
