Liverpool could be left in a tight spot as the £85,000-a-week star has been linked with a move as the window closes.

Liverpool “could be hit” if Joe Gomez seals his Anfield exit and forces boss Jurgen Klopp to make a major decision, insider Dean Jones has told
The Reds have made around £50million since the opening of the summer window, but more could be out before Friday’s 23rd deadline.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Gomez could become the next Premier League star to take advantage of Saudi Arabia’s riches as he is high on Al-Ittihad’s list of targets.

The Italian reporter suggests Liverpool have no intention of selling the centre-back, who secured a £3.5m move from Charlton Athletic in 2015, but his versatility has caught the eye of the reigning Saudi Arabia Pro League c has reached crossroads in his career and needs a consistent peak of playing time if he is to reach the standards set at Anfield. But the 26-year-old has played just 71 minutes since the start of the new season this month, failing to make a single start.

Ending his Liverpool career and joining Al-Ittihad would see Gomez reunite with former Reds team-mate Fabinho, who last month secured a £40m move for former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

The England international’s £85,000-a-week deal runs until the summer of 2027, meaning his current employers are in a strong negotiating position and may not be under pressure to cash in.
Jones believes Liverpool will have to hunt for a new centre-back as they do not want to risk Gomez moving on without a replacement.

The respected reporter understands that the Merseyside giants are keen to fend off interest from Al-Ittihad, but warned that Klopp may have to come back in the transfer budget as a move cannot be ruled out. “But with the new interest of Joe Gomez, they’ve got to put the burners back on and make sure they don’t get cold out there.
