Liverpool lost five midfielders in the summer transfer window and made four signings to strengthen the department.

The latest addition in the form of Ryan Gravenberch arrived on deadline day and it will be interesting to see how he fits into Jürgen Klopp’s preferred 4-3-3 formation.

In over a year at Bayern Munich, he started just six games in all competitions and it’s fair to say he didn’t join us to warm the bench.

Gravenberch is a versatile talent who can play in the 8 and 6 positions, but he is more of a creative midfielder than a defender.

However, at the age of 21, he has plenty of time to learn and develop into a better player under Klopp’s guidance.

Mac Allister, our No.10, plays mainly in the No.8 role and Szoboszlai, our No.8, is a central attacking midfielder who likes to play in an advanced midfield role.
Endo is a natural playmaker,

but he is not an ideal choice for the versatile Fabinho.
At Ajax, Ten Hag often used Gravenberch in a defensive midfielder role, but the youngster worked mainly as a playmaker rather than a tackler.

Frenkie de Jong is a natural No.6, but he is also not known for his defensive skills, but for connecting the ball from defense to attack and keeping the ball under pressure.
Our £39m deal is similar, so it’s no surprise to see him in the No.6 role alongside Mac Allister and Szoboszlai. Jen keel Liverpool egalus Ryan Gravenberg:
