Phil Hay explains why the sale of Sinisterra was necessary
Jaidon Anthony and Luis Sinisterra have swapped loans between Leeds and Bournemouth.

Jaidon Anthony and Luis Sinisterra have swapped loans between Leeds and Bournemouth Leeds United signed Jaidon Anthony late in the transfer window after the winger moved to Bournemouth for Luis Sinisterra, but Fabrizio Romano says signing the 12-goal star is still a medical.

The Whites produced an impressive summer window at Elland Road on the second day of the Bonkers deadline. After several departures from last season’s squad – many on loan – Leeds boss Daniel Farke made his optimism clear at lunchtime on Friday that Leeds will escape the deadline without major departures.

A few minutes after the end of the press conference, however, the news arrived that star Colombian winger Sinisterra was on his way to Bournemouth for treatment.

Many fans saw the former Feyenoord man as a key player in Leeds’ bid to secure a return to the Premier League. His departure on a season-long loan is therefore widely seen as a significant blow to Bournemouth.

However, Leeds were determined not to weaken their hand too much and only agreed to the sale after asking Bournemouth for their full-back Antonio in return.

The 23-year-old Arsenal academy product will move to West Yorkshire on a season-long loan deal.
Although the documents for his signature and departure to the Sinisterra Vitality Stadium almost passed the deadline of 23:00, the agreement was not confirmed until around 11:30.

However, it has now emerged that Leeds signed Anthony without medicals. The player was in a hotel with the rest of his Cherries team-mates preparing for Saturday’s game at Brentford when news of Leeds’ interest broke.

And while the right-footed left-back was delighted with the move, Leeds signed him without having time to carry out routine fitness tests.

As a result, reliable reporter Romano revealed that Anthony will travel to West Yorkshire later today to visit them. However, if all goes to plan, Leeds will go ahead with the deal as planned and the player will be able to watch the club’s Yorkshire derby against Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road from the  Bournemouth, closed in the last few hours.”

As for Sinisterra, it remains to be seen if he will ever kick the ball again for Leeds United.
Supporters are quite unforgiving when a player makes his wish to leave and it remains to be seen what will happen next summer when Leeds are back in the Premier League.

His move to Bournemouth was sanctioned despite a release clause in his contract, which apparently expires in mid-August.

And according to The Athletic’s Phil Hay, Leeds were worried that blocking his departure could lead to another protracted court case. After Nico’s attempt to sign the player before that clause expired was thwarted, there was a threat that Sinisterra and his representatives could have taken over from Leeds.

Inthe end, Leeds felt obliged to let Sinisterra complete his move and became embroiled in a costly legal saga, with Jean-Kevin Augustin having to pay £24.5m for breaching his transfer terms.
Leeds have learned their lesson,

however, with boss Daniel Farke making it clear that no player on his watch will be allowed to sign with such release clauses.
