Liverpool FC have signed Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch on a long-term contract.

Netherlands international Gravenberch becomes the Reds’ fourth signing of the summer after passing a medical and completing his contract at the AXA Training Center today

A product of AFC Ajax’s famous academy system, he made the club’s youngest debut at 16, won three Eredivisie titles and was named the division’s Talent of the Year in 2021.

Two Dutch Cups were also won, with Gravenberch scoring the opening goal in the 2021 final as Ajax beat Vitesse Arnhem 2–1.

He left Amsterdam after making 103 appearances – including 14 starts in the Champions League – and scoring 25 goals in all competitions.

Gravenberch then switched to Bayern last summer and made 33 appearances in 2022-23, adding the Bundesliga winner’s medal to his tally.

The 21-year-old now begins a new chapter in his career with Jurgen Klopp’s side, following Alexis MacAllister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo to Anfield.

I am very glad. I’m very happy that the deal is done and I’m finally here,” Gravenberch said in his first exclusive interview with Liverpoolfc.com.

If you look at it from the outside, it is one of the biggest clubs in the world. Also the fans, the stadium, I think everything from the outside is great. That’s why [it was the right club].”

At international level, Gravenberch was part of the Netherlands squad that qualified for the 2018 European Under-17 Championship in England, appearing in four matches and the final.

He made his debut for the Dutch national team in March 2021 and then represented his country at the late Euro 2020. To date, Gravenberch has made 11 appearances for his country and scored one goal.

I’m really looking forward [to being at Anfield] and I can’t wait to hear ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone,’” added the Reds’ new number 38.

“Now we start again, a new start and I will give everything for this club. [My goal is] to win trophies. Win cups, play a lot and show them who we are and who I am.”
