Dominik Szoboszlai was a happy man when he scored his first goal for Liverpool to grab all three points in Sunday’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa.

The No.8 opened the Reds’ account with a powerful strike at Anfield in the third minute as Matty Cash scored an own goal and Mohamed Salah’s goal then extended the hosts’ lead.

Szoboszlai, who arrived from RB Leipzig in the summer, was delighted to finally get on the scoresheet, having been in danger in his three previous appearances for the club.

The midfielder told Liverpoolfc.com: “Really happy to keep the three points at home.

Well played, good reactions, I think everyone proved themselves again and we did very well as a team. “I’m really happy to score my first goal at Anfield. I couldn’t have asked for anything better.

“To be honest, I said it before, we practiced sometimes in training and I think two weeks ago I had two situations in a row [and] I shot the ball 50 meters over the goal.

“Today I focused even more on hitting the ball well and scoring. It worked.”

Regarding the Anfield crowd, he added: “We will do everything for them and for us. “But we want a full stadium all the time, and when they come, we want to show them that’s why they come.”

Jürgen Klopp made three changes to his team for the match, Darwin Nunez, Joe Gomez and Curtis Jones started.

With Ryan Gravenberch also in control on the deadline day, Szoboszlai believes Liverpool are full of quality and depth in all areas.

“We have a really good team to be honest,” he said. “Joel [Matip] started very well today, played until the end. Joey also fought all the balls. “We need players like that.

We need everyone healthy because if something happens, you have to be ready.

“We should keep calm, work hard – as we have done so far – and everything will happen.”
