Dominik Szoboszlai’s first goal for Liverpool required a shot and the Hungarian revealed he had already tried to score in training.
It took just three minutes of Sunday’s match against Aston Villa for the Reds to take the lead with a superb effort from Szoboszlai.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner curled through a crowd of bodies to the edge of the box for the No.8 to touch it and produce the cleanest of left-footed shots.

The ball was headed into the top corner and Liverpool were on their way to a 3-0 win, with Szoboszlai telling the club’s official website he was delighted to see the move finally completed.

– I am very happy to score my first goal at Anfield. I don’t think I could even ask for [better],” he said.

“To be honest, I said it before, we practiced sometimes in training and I think two weeks ago I had two situations in a row [and] I shot the ball 50 meters over the goal.
– Today I concentrated even more on hitting the ball well and scoring a goal. It worked.”

It came two weeks after Jurgen Klopp himself said: “We haven’t seen that kind of finishing ability properly yet, but we’ll probably see it more often in the future.”

The speed with which Szoboszlai established himself as a 22-year-old after arriving from RB Leipzig is not only his quality, but also his attitude

He is consistently one of the hardest working players on the pitch and combining that with his ball skills makes him invaluable. Inheriting No.8 from Naby Keita, Szoboszlai looks set to finally take the mantle from his previous owner, Steven Gerrard.
